The Conditions of Entry are those stipulated by Miss Sheppard at the Trust’s foundation, but long since given formal legal status by a Charity Commission Scheme of 1932.
- The Trust is open to elderly ladies living on small fixed incomes who are in need of low-cost housing.
- There are no set income qualifications, but the Trust’s Executive Committee asks applicants for a statement of their finances, so that it can be satisfied that they are in need of low-cost housing.
- Applicants must be of the Church of England, or of churches in communion with the Church of England, or of a non-conformist denomination.
- The Trust is for ladies in good health who are able to look after themselves and their flats. In the interests of all concerned, the Committee asks for a medical report before entry.
- The Trust does not provide nursing care but readily co-operates with the local social services department which can arrange various home care services when they are needed.
- Except in special circumstances, applications are only considered from ladies between the ages of sixty-five and eighty.
