The Sheppard Trust does everything possible to help residents to stay in their homes with the Trust, provided that they do not become a risk to themselves or to other residents.
Advancing old age is accompanied by an increasing likelihood of social, physical and mental heath problems, and a consequent threat to the ability of residents to live independently and safely in their own homes. While the Trust does not provide care itself, it can do a great deal to ensure that residents receive the care and support they need. In particular the Trust, through its warden, can
- help identify need;
- liaise on behalf of residents with appropriate health and social services agencies to ensure that residents receive the services they require.
- monitor the performance of those services.
Residents of The Sheppard Trust are particularly well supported by a range of local health and social services. The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea has an excellent reputation for supporting the elderly; and local hospitals include St Mary’s Hospital Paddington, the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in Fulham, Charing Cross Hospital in Hammersmith and Hammersmith Hospital itself at White City, four of London’s major teaching hospitals.
